Connect your Shopify store

The Kive app links a Shopify store to a Kive workspace, so your catalog shows up in Kive ready to use. Install it once and you can turn any product into a product model without downloading and re-uploading its photos. You also get a Create with Kive action on every product in your Shopify admin, so you can generate images and push them back onto the product without switching tabs.

Before you start

You’ll need admin access to the Kive workspace you want to link. Kive only offers workspaces you administer during setup, so if a teammate owns the workspace, ask them to run the install or to make you an admin first. On the Shopify side you need permission to install apps in the store. If you don’t have a Kive account yet, install the app first — Kive walks you through signup and creates the workspace as part of the flow.

Install the app

You can connect more than one store to the same workspace — each connected store gets its own section in Kive.

Import products into Kive

Open Organize → AI models. Each connected store appears as an Import from Shopify section listing your products with their image counts. Click Import on a product and Kive builds a product model from up to four of its images, which you can then use in any prompt by typing @modelname. Long catalogs paginate — click Load more products to keep going. Products with no images can’t be imported. Add at least one image in Shopify, then reload the page.

Create images inside Shopify

Open any product in your Shopify admin and choose Create with Kive from the product actions menu. The embedded Kive app opens with that product selected, and you can pick a studio, set an aspect ratio and quality, and generate. Each result can be downloaded or added straight to the product’s images in Shopify, and Open advanced tools in Kive takes you to the full Create page when you want more control. Generations started from Shopify use your Kive workspace credits, the same as generations started in Kive.

Shopify app vs. Import from URL

Kive’s Import from URL option in the model training modal works with any online store, but it reads your storefront the way a visitor would. Stores with bot protection, password protection, or an unusual page layout can block it, and you’ll see No products found even though the URL is correct. If your store runs on Shopify, install the app instead. It reads your catalog through Shopify’s API instead of scraping the public storefront. This avoids depending on a publicly accessible product page; the app still needs the appropriate permissions and existing product images.

Troubleshooting

Shopify is missing from Kive settings

Check that you are in the intended workspace, that it has a paid plan, and that you are a workspace admin. The Shopify row is only shown to admins on paid workspaces. To connect a free workspace, start from the Shopify App Store instead. Ask an existing workspace admin to connect the store if you do not have that role.

The workspace I want is not offered during setup

Kive only offers workspaces you administer. Check your workspace role before reconnecting. If you administer exactly one workspace, it is selected and linked automatically; you may still see the connection screen briefly.

A product cannot be imported

Check its existing images in Shopify. A product without images cannot be imported: add at least one photo, reload the import list and try again. For a long catalog, use Load more products to find products beyond the current page.

Generating from Shopify uses my Kive credits

This is expected. The embedded app uses the connected workspace’s balance, just like generation in Kive. Check that workspace’s plan and available credits before starting a larger batch of work.
