Add structured metadata fields to all workspace assets for advanced filtering and organization. Custom properties enable consistent categorization whether tracking project status, copyright information, or creative themes.

How custom properties work

Custom properties extend default metadata with workspace-specific fields. These properties appear on every asset, enabling consistent data entry and powerful filtering. Key benefits include enhanced organization, standardized metadata across teams, advanced search capabilities, and workflow-specific categorization.

Steps

Create metadata fields that apply to all workspace assets:
1

Access workspace settings

Click the workspace dropdown in the top-left corner and select Settings
2

Navigate to properties

Click the Custom Properties tab in the settings modal
3

Add new property

Click Add a property to create a new metadata field
4

Choose property type

Select from available field types based on your data needs
5

Configure options

Set up dropdown choices, validation rules, or default values as needed
6

Save and apply

The property becomes available on all workspace assets immediately

Manage existing properties

Keep your property system current as needs evolve. Editing - Modify names, descriptions, dropdown options, and default values to match changing requirements. Organization - Reorder properties logically, archive unused fields without data loss, and create templates for common scenarios. Migration - Bulk update assets with new values, convert between property types, and export data for analysis.

Use custom properties

Properties integrate throughout your asset workflow. Upload - Set values during upload, apply to multiple assets simultaneously, and use templates for consistency. Asset Details - View and edit all properties in one place, track changes, and find similar assets. Search & Filter - Filter by any property value, combine multiple properties for advanced searches, and save common filter combinations.

Advanced strategies

Leverage properties for sophisticated organization systems. Project Management - Track phases, deliverables, and approvals. Link assets to campaigns and monitor progress through property values. Rights & Licensing - Document permissions, track copyright holders, and manage expiration dates for licensed content. Creative Systems - Categorize by style and mood, track feedback status, and link to brand guidelines.

Tips

Follow these guidelines for effective property management. Design - Use clear, descriptive names. Limit select options to 3-7 choices and establish naming conventions upfront. Implementation - Train team members, document property definitions, and refine based on usage patterns. Maintenance - Audit effectiveness regularly, consolidate unused properties, and update values for data quality.
