Character models let you generate the same specific person consistently across multiple images and videos. Train a model once using photos of one individual, then reference it in prompts using @modelname.
When to use character models: Use character models when you need the same specific person to appear consistently across multiple generations. If you just need to show people in your images (like “male model in athletic wear” or “woman with long brown hair”), you can describe them directly in your prompt without creating a model. This gives you flexibility to change details like hairstyle, age, or clothing in each generation, and it’s completely free.

Before you start

  • Access to a Kive workspace
  • 1-3 photos of the same person you want to use as your character

Steps

1

Create Your Model

Go to Create → AI Models and click New model. Select Character as the model type
2

Upload Photos

Upload 1-3 clear, well-lit photos of the same person from different angles. Put your best photo first—this will be the primary reference for your model’s appearance and angle. Name your model (e.g., “Ada”) and click Create. Training takes about 10 seconds
3

Generate Images

In the Generate section, reference your model by typing @modelname in your prompt. Example: @ada wearing a business suit in an office
4

Enhance with Studios (Optional)

Select a studio preset to provide professional lighting and composition before generating
5

Create Videos (Optional)

Switch to Video mode and generate 5-second clips using your character model; only one output is produced per prompt

Tips

Photo selection: Upload 1-3 photos of the same person. The first photo is most important—it should show your preferred angle and best represent how you want the character to appear in outputs. Use clear, well-lit photos of the same individual showing different angles and expressions. Avoid filters or heavy editing. Prompting: Always start your prompt with @modelname and be specific about context. Combine with studios for consistent style; avoid re-describing facial features.

Creative Applications

Professional: Product lookbooks, team headshots, marketing campaigns, educational content. Creative: Narrative storytelling, social media avatars, personal branding, concept testing.

Common issues

Character not consistent: Ensure you use @modelname and check spelling; regenerate if first attempts aren’t perfect. Model creation failed: Verify that uploaded images are JPG or PNG, high resolution and show the face clearly.
