Skip to main contentSwap specific objects within images using AI that maintains natural lighting, perspective, and integration. Perfect for experimenting with variations, updating existing imagery, or creating multiple product shots from a single base.
How it works
The AI analyzes selected objects and surrounding context to understand lighting, perspective, and environment. Replacements naturally integrate with existing scenes through context-aware generation, automatic lighting matching, perspective preservation, and natural background blending.
Steps
Replace objects in eight steps:
- Open your image - Navigate to the image in your Library or board and click to open it in detail view
- Access the tool - Click the Replace Object icon in the vertical toolbar, or access via the Edit section
- Mask the object - Use the brush tool to carefully paint over the object you want to replace
- Refine selection - Adjust brush size and add to or subtract from your selection as needed
- Describe replacement - Enter a detailed description of what you want the object to become
- Generate options - Click Generate to create replacement variations
- Review results - Compare options and select the version that best fits your vision
- Save the image - Click Save to add the modified version to your Library
Masking techniques
Achieve precise selections by including the full object with its shadows, following natural boundaries, and considering reflections.
Selection scenarios vary by context: include contact shadows for products on surfaces, ground shadows for people or animals, cast shadows for objects against walls, and full volume for transparent items.
Options
Fine-tune selections with brush sizes from 1-50 pixels. Refine masks by adding or subtracting areas, use detailed prompts that match image style, and generate multiple variations to find the best fit.
Use cases
Popular applications span product photography, creative design, and content creation.
Products - Create color variations, test different styles, update seasonal collections, or generate A/B testing options.
Design - Experiment with artistic elements, create campaign variations, test concepts before shoots, or develop multiple versions from single sources.
Content - Update branded materials, create seasonal variations, develop social media versions, or generate alternative presentations.
Tips
Create natural replacements by being specific about color, material, style, and size. Match scene context including environment and lighting. Start with similar objects to maintain scale and purpose, mention lighting conditions in prompts, and practice on clearly defined items first.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues
Unnatural integration - Refine masks to include more context, add lighting descriptions to prompts, and select slightly larger areas for better blending.
Sizing problems - Specify size relationships in prompts, ensure masks capture full boundaries, and consider proportions to other elements.
Lighting mismatches - Include shadow and lighting details in descriptions, select original shadows, and try multiple generations for better results.
Credit usage
Each object replacement uses 4 credits, balancing creative flexibility with credit efficiency.
