Where to Find Ad Inspiration for E-commerce Brands in 2026

The best ad inspiration for an e-commerce brand in 2026 costs nothing. Meta Ad Library, TikTok's Top Ads and Google Ads Transparency Center show what competitors are paying to run right now, and a swipe file you keep yourself turns those finds into briefs. Paid libraries mostly sell back the hours spent saving and sorting. That is worth buying only once those hours pile up.

Meta Ad Library: start here, know its blind spots

Meta Ad Library is the first stop because it is the largest free window into what e-commerce brands actually pay to show. Search a competitor's page name or a keyword and you get every ad they are currently running across Facebook, Instagram and Meta's other apps. A new ad shows up within 24 hours of its first impression (Meta Ad Library).

Each ad lists the date it started running. That date is the most useful number on the page: an ad still live months after launch is one the brand keeps paying for, and a cluster of near-identical variants usually means a concept is being tested hard. Neither proves the ad works. Both beat judging by thumbnail.

What it hides from you

For a normal US product ad (not political, never delivered in the EU or UK), Meta's own table lists no archive, no impression ranges and no spend information [4]. The ad is visible while it runs and gone when it stops. Ads that reached the EU or UK stay archived for a year after their last impression, which is why some brands' history looks deeper than others'.

There is no built-in way to save ads to boards. You can download searches, but only while logged in to Facebook and after agreeing to its terms. Screenshot anything you want to keep the day you find it.

TikTok Top Ads and Google Ads Transparency Center

TikTok's Top Ads dashboard does what Meta's library won't: it ranks. TikTok describes it as a feed of high-performing auction ads, filterable by country, campaign objective, ad language, ad format, likes and a date window such as the last 30 days (TikTok Top Ads). Sort by reach or CTR, and each card shows its likes, a CTR band labeled "Top x% CTR" and, on some, a "High budget" tag.

That is the closest free thing to performance data on someone else's creative. It covers TikTok only and leans toward native, phone-shot video, so read it as a hook library rather than a template for static ads. Producing that format is covered in AI product videos for TikTok and Meta ads.

Google's version answers a narrower question: what is this advertiser running on Google right now? Search by advertiser name or website and you get active ads published through Google, with a link out to paid promotions on YouTube (Ads Transparency Center). No performance numbers appear. Use it to see whether a competitor's budget sits in Search, Display or YouTube before you study a single creative.

Ads of the World and Kive Ideas: concepts without the data

Two useful sources show no live competitor ads at all. Both are curated, and both trade performance signals for range.

Ads of the World

Ads of the World is an archive of agency campaign work and one of the few dedicated sites that ranks for "ad inspiration" itself. Go there when every competitor's feed looks the same and you need a concept from outside your category: a visual metaphor, a print layout, a headline structure. Expect brand campaigns rather than direct-response product ads, with no spend or results attached.

Kive Ideas

Kive Ideas is a feed of product photos, looks and ads meant to be remade rather than admired. You pick one and add your product, and Kive's Agent rebuilds the scene with the original composition, framing, light and mood (how Ideas works). The Ads filter narrows the feed to images with text, such as posters and social ads. Ideas are royalty-free for commercial use; whatever you add, from product to logo, is your responsibility.

Ad ideas can carry placeholder brand names and prices, so ask Agent to replace them with your copy. Browsing is on the free plan, which comes with 40 credits after email verification. Remixes spend credits like any other generation, and Basic is $20/month for 1,000 (kive.ai/pricing). Ideas is still rolling out, so not every workspace shows it yet.

Who it doesn't fit: anyone who needs to know what competitors are running or what converts. There is no competitor tracking and no spend data. Results are also weaker when the idea's scene was built for a different product category than yours.

Foreplay: the one paid library worth naming

Paid ad libraries rarely surface ideas the free ones can't. What they sell is workflow: save an ad from Meta Ad Library or TikTok in one click, tag it, and find it again three months later when someone asks for a brief. Foreplay does this cleanly. Its Chrome extension and mobile app save ads into shareable boards, and Foreplay says none of its plans limit how many ads you save from Meta Ad Library, TikTok Creative Center and other sources (foreplay.co/pricing).

PlanMonthly billingAnnual billing (per month)Users included
Basic$59$491
Workflow$175$1495
Agency$459$38910

Extra users are $20 each. The trial runs 7 days and asks for a card upfront, with a 14-day money-back guarantee after the first charge; there is no free plan. Workflow adds Spyder for competitor tracking and Lens for analytics.

If saving and re-finding ads already eats hours each week, $49 a month is cheap. If you save a few ads a week, a shared folder does the same job. For the rest of the paid field, including Atria, Swipekit, BigSpy and Minea, see Facebook Ad Library alternatives.

Turn a saved ad into a brief

A saved ad is worth nothing until it changes what you make next. The fix is a small habit: every time you save one, write four notes beside it.

The effort pays because creative is the lever you control most directly. Nielsen's Project Apollo found that 65% of a brand's sales lift from advertising came from the creative; by 2017 media's share had grown from 15% to 36%, and Nielsen still called good creative the most important element [1]. Kantar found the most creative and effective ads generate more than four times as much profit [2].

Four notes per saved ad, then the brief

  1. Hook

Write what stops the scroll in the first frame or first line: a before-and-after, a product in an unexpected place, a claim in giant type. Copy it word for word if it is text.

  2. Format

Static, carousel, UGC-style video or demo, plus the aspect ratio. Note whether a person appears: Google found images featuring people perform over 30% better for their campaign goal than images without [3].

  3. Offer

Record the exact offer, whether discount, bundle, free shipping or guarantee, or that there is none. The same Google research found headlines with an offer perform up to 38% better for their campaign goal than headlines without [3].

  4. Composition

Where the product sits, how much of the frame it fills, the background and light, and where text lands. This is the part you can rebuild directly around your own product, as in recreating an ad with your own product or replacing the product in a photo.

  5. Write the brief

Take one saved ad's hook and composition, then swap in your product, your offer and your brand kit. Keep the structure, change every asset. For worked examples in one category, see skincare static ad concepts.

Where to keep the swipe file

A swipe file is just the archive of these notes. A spreadsheet with a screenshot column works, as does any board tool you will actually open; Pinterest alternatives compares visual board tools if Pinterest's feed keeps pulling you off task. What matters is that the four notes travel with the image.

Buys back time, not better ideas; worth it once saving ads is a weekly chore.

Most teams don't lack ad ideas. They lack a record of the ones they saw last month. An hour a week across Meta and TikTok, with four notes on each keeper, builds a swipe file worth more than a paid database you never annotate.

When that hour turns into three, Foreplay is the upgrade. Until then, put the money into producing the ads.
